Dr. Emily DiAngelo is a professional oboist, dedicated educator, and arts advocate and organizer. She has been teaching private oboe and piano lessons for 15+ years, including current faculty positions at Cornell University and Luzerne Music Center. An avid performer, Emily founded the Ithaca New Music Collective in 2015. She is a passionate advocate for commissioning and performing new music by a diverse group of contemporary composers, including BIPOC and female identifying artists. 

Emily believes in the tireless fight for equity and inclusion within the music industry. The performing arts is a livelihood and Emily continues to create opportunity to secure fair and thriving wages that empower the entire arts community.

Dr. Emily DiAngelo is an oboist, educator, and arts organizer. She is currently oboe faculty at Cornell University and Luzerne Music Center, an avid freelance musician in New York, and the director of the Ithaca New Music Collective. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Manhattan School of Music. 

Emily studied oboe with Robert Botti at Manhattan School of Music, Paige Morgan at Ithaca College, and Dan Stolper at Interlochen Arts Academy.  Other notable teachers include Pedro Diaz, Louis Rosenblatt, and Lloyd Shorter. Read more about Emily’s life as a performer.

Emily also teaches private music lessons in the Ithaca, New York.  She has been teaching private music lessons for over 15 years, and tailors individualized instruction to each of her students based on their interests and needs.  She teaches students as young as 3 years old to students entering their golden years, and believes that anyone can learn an instrument at any time in their life!  Read more about Emily’s teaching philosophy.
